Liscio will put a request on the client's My To-Do List and email them on a calendar you only half control. That helps. It is also how firms think they have chased a missing K-1 when they have only set a due date in June. Name each file on the request, pick a due date that actually starts reminders, bulk send without stacking a second organizer, and use eDocs when Form 8879 or Form 2848 needs a signature.
Liscio Help Center, as it read on 21 October 2026, is the source for every click named below. Confirm the labels in your firm account. They move things.
The process behind the request is how to get clients to send tax documents on time. Copy for a named missing list is in the missing tax documents email templates.
01
Requests, eDocs and Get a Signature
Three tools. Do not use one for the other two jobs.
- Requests. Collect information and files. Liscio lists onboarding, monthly close checklists, tax questionnaires, organizers and return delivery. Build from scratch or from a template. Question types are Yes or No (with follow up questions), Short Answer, and File Upload. (Creating a request)
- eDocs.Adobe integration for documents that need several signatures and fields. Liscio's examples are power of attorney, consent forms, and IRS authorizations. Optional signing order. Optional KBA, typically for Forms 8879. Each signer needs their own Liscio account. (Sending an eDoc)
- Get a Signature. Engagement letters are sent this way. Templates are loaded by Liscio Support from Word files you submit. You cannot self upload those templates. Bulk send is up to 100 contacts per batch. Liscio does not skip people who already received a letter. Track batches yourself. (Sending engagement letters)
Answers on a Request do not flow into Drake, UltraTax or your general ledger. Liscio says you review them in Liscio and enter them where they belong. (Requests FAQs)
02
Build a request the client can finish
Requests in the left menu, +Requests. Pick a template or start from scratch. Name it like a checklist, not "Tax docs." Add a Section Title. Under it, the blue + adds a subsection or a question. File Upload is the row you want for each document. Yes or No is for "Did you sell a house this year?" with a File Upload that appears only if yes. (Creating a request)
Preview and Send. Add Contact and Account. Set a Due Date. Send. Save and Exit keeps a draft. If you already started one, Pick up where you left off. (Creating a request)
Name each File Upload the way last year's return would name it: "W-2, Harbor Ridge Design, Inc." not "wages." That is the same rule as the collection system.
03
Templates and bulk send
Liscio ships standard templates (New Client Tax Organizer, New Schedule C, Partnership Tax Info Request, Monthly Close Checklist, and others) and updates tax templates each year. Standard templates cannot be edited as templates. You can edit the copy you are about to send. Custom templates you create are available to the whole firm. (Requests template, Requests FAQs)
Bulk send lives on Requests, not on Tasks. Prepare the template, check the date edited, Send Bulk Request, set one due date, filter the people, send. Refresh if you land on an old page. (Bulk sending requests)
Use bulk send for the January first request. Do not bulk send a second request on top of an open one because March feels late. Change the due date on the open request, or archive it and send a new one that lists only what is still missing.
04
Due dates control the reminders
Liscio emails when the request is created, then reminds one week before the due date, one day before, one day after, and weekly after that until the client submits, you mark it complete, or you archive it. There is no separate "resend" because the request stays on My To-Do List until one of those three things happens. (Requests FAQs)
If the due date is months away, the client will not get another notice until a week before that date. Changing the due date changes when reminders go. It does not block the client from finishing early. Edit from the request list (vertical ellipses, Edit Request) or from the calendar icon on the open request. (Changing the due date of a request)
| Your document date | Due date you set in Liscio | What the client actually gets |
|---|---|---|
| 1 March | 1 March | Create email in January, then silence until 22 February, then the week of reminders. |
| 1 March, you want January noise | 7 February | Reminders start about 31 January. After 7 February they get the one day after notice, then weekly. |
| You slip the date to 15 March | Edit to 15 March | The weekly clock resets to the new date. |
The hole is the long quiet stretch. If you send in January with a 1 March due date, February is silent unless you change the date or write yourself. Put open requests on a list a person looks at twice a week after your own document date, the same way the tax season workflow treats the Monday huddle.
05
eDocs for Form 8879 and Form 2848
+Add New, eDoc. In To, pick each signer. Optional signing order so the second person does not see it until the first finishes. Optional KBA for Forms 8879. Title, message, attach from the computer, the Liscio Vault, or a connected drive (SharePoint, OneDrive, Google Drive, SmartVault, Box). Prepare Doc for Signing opens Adobe. Place signature, initials, date, name, email, checkboxes, text. Save as a template if you will reuse the layout. Send. Incognito, private browsing, blocked third party cookies, or dark mode can break the Adobe step. (Sending an eDoc)
Clients find it under My To-Do List, Review & Sign, Continue, Start, Finish. If signing order is on, later signers will not see the task yet. The signed file comes back to the firm and sits in the client's Files. (How clients sign eDocs)
Joint returns where both spouses share one email: Liscio points you to Smart Tax Delivery with Sign on Same Device, not a normal eDoc with two signers on one login. (Sending an eDoc)
06
Where a person still steps in
- Building the File Upload list from last year's return.
- Reading Not applicable and I already sent it.
- The quiet stretch before the due date week.
- Anyone who leaves the request open after two weekly overdue emails.
- Assigning a blurry upload to the right row, or rejecting it.
- KBA failures and joint filers who do not both have Liscio accounts.
- Any tax position, including an extension.
Liscio will not call them. After two weekly overdue emails, pick up the phone. Use the named emails in the template pack for the written follow up, or have the tax season operator draft them from the live missing list.

A worked 1040 request
Priya Shah, Schedule C, one W-2, a new 1099-NEC. Your document date is 1 March.
| Date | Liscio |
|---|---|
| 20 January | Custom template: File Upload for W-2 (named employer), 1099-NEC (named payer), Schedule C bank statements, mileage log. Yes or No: sold a house. Due date 8 February, so reminders start about 1 February. |
| 8 February | She uploaded the W-2. 1099-NEC still empty. Do not bulk send a second organizer. Edit the open request title to list the 1099-NEC only, or send a short message and leave the request open. |
| 1 March | Still open. Weekly Liscio email is not a phone call. Admin calls. CPA decides whether Form 4868 is the plan. |
If you extend, keep the same request. Change the due date to a date you will actually look at in May. The Form 4868 and Form 7004 communication page is the client wording for that turn.

Next step
Want a call list after Liscio's weekly email?
Liscio reminds on its own calendar. It will not call the client who left a 1099-NEC empty after the due date. The tax season operator drafts the named follow up from the open request. Your staff approve what goes out. Your CPA reviews and signs every return.
